We offer 2 beautiful styles of chessboards.

Veneered: A simple design in appearance, build solid to last. The playing surface is made using thin cuts of hardwood (approx. 3/16” thick.) which are then permanently glued to a 10-layer Baltic Birch plywood core. The outside border is created using solid hardwood. With the stability of the Baltic Birch core, concern for wood movement is eliminated, and you can enjoy the beauty and playability of this board for generations.

Solid Raised Panel: If you are looking for a statement piece, which plays as good as it looks, then this is it. The playing surface is created using solid hardwood (approx 1/2” thick). A separate frame is constructed, with key splined miters, to hold the recessed playing surface. The frame and grid are attached using Z-Clips, similar to a table top. This construction method accounts for the expected seasonal wood movement of the solid wood playing surface to ensure its heirloom quality.

Chessboards can be made to any size, with the standard square size being 2”. You can also choose which materials to use.
