Face Grain

Typically display more decorative cathedral and swirling grain. Great for a board meant for display, or occasional use. This type of board tends to show a bit more wear than the others, both in appearance and on the knife edge.

Edge Grain

Made using strips of wood turned onto their edge. The grain is typically more consistent in appearance, and shows less wear and tear both on the board and knife. A perfect solution for anyone looking for a great looking and performing board.

End Grain

Trusted by the worlds top chefs, this is the most costly and time intense board to make. The construction consists of making an edge grain board, and then cutting this board into strips, which are then rotated with the end grain facing up, to make a full end grain board. These are often called Butcher Block style, and made to take some serious use. The end grain fibers are easy on the knife edge, and show less wear and tear on the board, with a natural “self-healing” ability.
